The Grammy Songs of the Year - our theme for the next round of showcases. Included are the winning songs AND the nominees, so there are over 250 songs from which to choose. There is a complete list on wikipedia, so have at it. There should be no repeats with this many songs. Oh, I almost forgot - You must choose songs from 3 different decades (just to make it interesting for you), and you still need varied tempos - not too many ballads.
Sign up now - they're going fast...Here's what I have , so far:
Anita Forbes Jill Petersen
Send in the Clowns Time After Time
Hello Dolly I'll Never Fall in Love Again
We Are the World Love Will Keep Us Together
Steve Tubbs Ruthann dela Vega
Moon River My Coloring Book
Behind Closed Doors I Will Survive
New York, New York I Hope You Dance
Lori Arnold
Charade
Witchcraft
From a Distance
Jaynie Quigley
Catch a Falling Star
Something I Can't Read
Don't Know Why
Gary Smith
Volare
It's Impossible
Something up tempo
Please add your choices to the list. This should be another fun one!!!!!

2011 - Here already?
Well, not quite, but the plans have begun! The theme is "Broadway Goes Pop". So pick your favorite songs from the Great White Way, and sign up here. Also, please go to the Ax2 Music web site to sign up officially for the January sessions, which begin Saturday, January 15th, and Monday, January 17th. We need to have an idea of how many people we will have.
Also, Bo and I are doing a show in January. Any suggestions???
Thanks - and don't forget to make a reservation for one of the Christmas shows at Tony's!

November Showcases
OK, it is official. The theme of the November showcases will be "My Absolutely, Positively Favorite Singer". Remember your choice can come from any era and any genre, so 40s Jazz is not the only pool from which to draw. Let the games begin!!!
Monday, August 9th
Bo Ayars will not be with us Monday, August 9, 2010. He has a gig that he must do. Playing the part of the piano player that night will be the inimitable Mike Horsfall. He is a very nice man, and I am sure we will have a lovely evening.

AX2 Vocal Performance Workshop
Hi Workshop People! Welcome to the ax2 Vocal Workshop Blog. What we would like to accomplish with this is improving the communication between members AND give you a place to sign up for your Showcase songs. You can also publicize gigs or important things you would like the group to know.
Everyone has pretty much picked their numbers for the September showcases, but as soon as the November theme is definite, you'll be able to sign up as soon as you know your choices.
I hope you like this idea. I think it will be fun.
