The Grammy Songs of the Year - our theme for the next round of showcases. Included are the winning songs AND the nominees, so there are over 250 songs from which to choose. There is a complete list on wikipedia, so have at it. There should be no repeats with this many songs. Oh, I almost forgot - You must choose songs from 3 different decades (just to make it interesting for you), and you still need varied tempos - not too many ballads.

    Julie Irmer Here are some of my possible choices:
    For sure: 1. "We've Only Just Begun" (carpenters 1971)
    Possible: 2. "Call me Irresponsible" (Frank Sinatra 1964)
    3. "Fast Car" (Tracy Chapman 1989)
    others: Graceland, Unforgettable, What's love got to do with it.
    I'll be open to discussing at the next rehearsal!

    2010s: F**K You OR Poker Face (the G-rated versions/G as in Glee)
    1960s: Either Theme from A Summer's Place or Make Someone Happy
    1970s: Breakin up is Hard to do

    Well, looks like Julie I rmer and I will have to arm wrestle for songs! I'll keep looking for somehting else (having a hard time staying in three diffent decades and getting somehting that is not a ballad)
    Tentative Choices: Fever (1959)
    Call me Irresponsible (1964)
    Give me One Reason (1997) OR
    Walking in Memphis (1992)
    (the last two choices depends on what sheet music I can find...I'm still searching)

    Suzette! I'm looking at "Breaking up.." too!

    Lindsay, Eventhough there are 250 songs per Barbara, I don't see why we both can't do "Call me Irresponsible".....
    There are some songs on the list that are so ICONIC (Evergreen and People) that I wouldn't feel up to "touching" them!!
    AND if I don't like the choices, I won't do a good job. They have to be songs I WANT TO DO....or it's a waste of my time.

    I agree! There are some on there that there is no way I would even try to sing them. And then the Ones in 2000 and more I don't even know what they are! :)

    I juat discovered that I have two songs in the sixties soooo.....scratch Lollipops and Roses and I will do "Feel like making love" which is 70's. That leaves me with
